This is the smallest region, and is best known for its famed wine production, the centre for which is Haro, and no visit to this area should be without a tasting at one of the numerous bodegas. There are also lovely rural areas offering hunting, fishing, climbing and hiking, and caves and grottos to visit. Apart from the wines, the region's gastronomy includes another speciality, the pimientos del piquillo, a delicious, sweet red pepper. The region's busy capital is Logrono, founded by the Romans and bordered by medieval walls and the River Ebro.
