This community, bordering on the French Pyrenees, is of particular interest for its outstanding mountainous landscapes, with glacier lakes and several nature reserves where you still may observe animals that have long been extinct in many other regions of Europe. It is traversed by the Ebro, with its mountainous terrain in the north, graduating to beautiful fertile valleys, on to a rather barren plain in the south. The mountains are the main attraction of this region, offering both winter sports and in the summer, trekking and hiking, exploring the unspoilt lofty peaks, stone villages, and castles. The region's capital, Zaragoza is located on the Ebro river, and is one of the great historic cities of Spain. Its heritage of Romans and Moors is documented in its museums.
