This region is the second largest in area and boasts the highest number of inhabitants. It offers a huge contrast of landscapes, from the golden beaches with natural harbours to the high mountain ranges with their "white villages". The gentle climate with over 3000 hours of sunshine per year, welcoming nature of the inhabitants and the availability of sports from skiing to surfing makes it a true holiday paradise.
Much of the architecture has strong Moorish influences, including the famous Giralda bell tower in the capital city of Seville.
Also of note is the great mosque in Cordoba,and most impressive of all, the Alhambra Palace in Granada. Andalucia is the home of flamenco, gipsies, orange trees, tapas, and bullfights, and myths such as Carmen and Don Juan were born here.
